The theme of this forum is the importance and urgency of low-carbon buildings. Guests such as Katie, Director of the World Resources Institute and former Director of the White House Environmental Quality Office, Wen Haonan, General Manager of Moody's Construction Consulting Company in Germany, Chen Zhenxian, Chairman of Xinqiang Optoelectronics Company, Hong Rong, General Manager of Securities Star, and Zhang Yue, Chairman of Yuanda Group, were invited to discuss major environmental issues such as climate change and building energy conservation.

The forum discussed technical measures, civic education, and policy guidance for low carbon buildings using the Grand Pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo as a case study. In the case of Yuanda Hall, it can be seen that 80% of energy saving can be easily achieved by only taking low-cost and low-technical measures such as wall insulation, multi-layer glass windows, shading outside the windows, and fresh air heat recovery. Currently, the use of buildings generates about 40% of the world's carbon emissions. How to take the fastest action to stop new non energy-saving buildings and how to implement energy-saving renovation of existing buildings by stages are the primary issues before global policy makers.
